A total of 207,500 people were enrolled to vocational schools this year under the state order, which is nearly 20,500 people or 12% more than last year, Education and Science Minister Dmytro Tabachnyk has said.

At the same time, he said that the employment of graduates should become an indicator of the effective work of vocational schools under contemporary conditions. Tabachnyk said that according to statistics, 25-30%, and in some vocational schools up to 40% of young workers leave jobs within a year.

He said that a reason for this was the lack of training of graduates to work in a production environment. The questioning of vocational school graduates in 2009 demonstrated that 52% of them considered themselves not adapted to work under conditions of production, the minister added.
